Summary
Leukocyte telomere length and age were the only independent variables that predicted maximum intima-media thickness in the subjects. The authors conclude that leukocyte telomere length is an independent predictor of subclinical atherosclerosis pointing to a role of leukocyte telomere length as an early marker of cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes.
