Telomere Shortening in Alzheimer’s Disease Patients

165 adults; 79 normal controls, 86 patients with Alzheimer’s without family history of Alzheimer’s or vascular dementia cases

Summary
The data in this study showed that the negative correlation between telomere length and age become much stronger in AD patients compared to the control group. Additionally the researchers observed a significant negative correlation between the duration of Alzheimer’s disease and telomere length, especially in the female subjects.
