Summary
Telomere maintenance is determined by genetic factors but can also be affected by non-genetic lifestyle behaviors. Additionally, genetics and environment can interact and have compounding and cumulative effects. The findings from this study suggest that telomere length can serve as a causative and potentiating factor in disease development.
