Habitual physical exercise has beneficial effects on telomere length in postmenopausal women

Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journal:
Menopause

Size of study:
44 healthy, nondiabetic, non-smoking, post-menopausal women

Summary
Habitual physical exercise was associated with longer telomere length in post-menopausal women.  In addition to longer telomeres, the habitual exercisers in this study also had other favorable biomarker statuses such as lower fasting insulin concentrations, better insulin resistance and higher mitochondrial DNA copy number.
